Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I have a college minor in psychology and counseling. I took courses including educational psychology, counseling psychology and psychology of exceptional children.

Dyslexia

I am trained as a dyslexia specialist in the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. I completed training as a dyslexia specialist in 2004. I also attend a refresher course at the beginning of each school year to maintain my status. I am qualified to do dyslexia screenings as well as full assessments to determine eligibility for dyslexia. Formal documentation of my credentials and skills can be verified.

Patient

We like Mr. P. a lot. He is very patient with Vanessa because she can be a handful but he handles her very well and she likes working with him also. Looking forward to continuing tutoring during the school year.
