I have worked with children for more than 19 years in the field of education with high school and elementary students. I have worked in the area of special education and general education; I have worked with students who were labeled AU, ADHD, ED, LD, MR, and who had other health impairments. I have also worked as an after-school facilitator, after-school academic tutor, ESL/ESOL tutor, and substitute teacher.
I am currently working as a tutor and a substitute teacher. When I tutor, I always see at what level the child/client is performing. I speak with the parents to get to know more about the child’s/client's academic level. If the child/client needs help in reading, I go over letter recognition, phonics, sound letter recognition, and other related topics. It depends on the level of the child/client. I try to meet the child/client where he or she is and then work from there. My experiences working as a tutor have been successful and I look forward to working with you. Denise has been great with my lively five-year old. She herself is a fun-loving, but knowledgeable and patient tutor who adapted her style to 'reach' a busy five-year old. She is well -organized and from our first session, came prepared to address my daughter's needs.
There are few people who are blessed with the ability to educate children. I believe that Denise E is one of these people. My daughter took to her right away, she didn’t want the lesson to end. Denise has a unique approach, she taught my daughter on her level. My daughter responded to her positively through the games they played, the music, the drawing and Denise’s presentation of each activity. I was very impressed with Ms. E’s abilities. I highly recommend Ms. E to anyone who is looking for a qualified and gifted tutor for their child.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked as a private tutor in ESL and with students in grades PK-12 in a school setting. I have also worked as a teacher part-time at Quick Learning which is a private company that teaches English as a second language to adults.
