About Rodrigo

I have been drawing and painting all my life. It all started with a #2 pencil and a white paper and then all the magic began with art. Without good knowledge of drawing and their principles, painting and other forms of visual art will be a failure.

My previous experience in teaching art is private, elementary, and middle schools in Houston Texas Last years I was teaching with City art works (art program for kids art after school) art after school program with the Branch School, and with art league of Houston, all in Houston, TX (recommendation letter upon request). Lastly, I have a degree in drawing and painting from the Superior Academy of Arts in Bogota, Colombia. My credentials are: I am represented with d.m. Allison of Art and have many works and projects there. I also have awards with the prestigious Hunting Art Prize, one with Lawndale Art Center, and one with Art of Can Redbull Contest. I was also award at the MOLAA Museum of Latin American Art in Los Angeles, CA. It will be a pleasure to pass my joy of art to others.

I am an art teacher, specialized in the following areas:

Drawing - Painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor)
From Realism to Abstract and the combination of both which is my signature style.

Cartooning

Graphic Design (Photo shop, Illustrator)

Sports coach- Chess and Tennis

Everything that I do has to be spiritual, harmonious, and in line with beauty and esthetic.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chess

First of all I want to say that I love Chess. It is more than a game, it trains the mind to solve problems in life and enrich your memory.

As a teacher I would begin with the main parts of the chess game which are
the functions of each piece and the rules of the game. After the basics it is important to learn the openings, which through the History of chess have been developed and already exist. Also the first 10 moves, which are a very important strategy that recognizes the opponents weak pawn. Then, we have the middle game and then the end. I will teach you from the beginning and will also help you advance if you also wish.

I can also add that I have been able to teach my daughters and sons the basics of chess and they now know how to play the game for recreation. It is a very pleasant experience.

Drawing

I have been drawing all my life. It all started with a #2 pencil and a white paper and then all the magic began with art. Without good knowledge of drawing and their principles, painting and other forms of visual art will be a failure.

The most important aspects of drawing are:
shading, line, proportion, direction, placement, volume, contour, gesture, perspective, and study of light. However, the most I think to teach the student is how to see and observe the real world in order to mimic.

My previous experience in teaching art is private, elementary, and middle schools in Houston Texas (recommendation letter upon request). Lastly, I have a degree in drawing and painting from the Superior Academy of Arts in Bogota, Colombia. My credentials are: I am represented with D.M. Allison of Art and have many works and projects there. I also have awards with the prestigious Hunting Art Prize, one with Lawndale Art Center, and one with Art of Can Red bull Contest. I was award at the MOLAA Museum Of Latin American Art in Los Angeles, CA. It will be a pleasure to pass my joy of art to others.

Tennis

I have practised in a fun way sports all my life such as soccer, basketball, ping pong and of course Tennis. I think tennis is a very special sport because of the mental aspect of the game.

The most important parts of the development of the game consist of the fore hand, back hand, how to serve, how to put the opponents in disadvantage, down the line, attacks to the net, and strategies like keeping the rally and the use of the diagonal concept for example.

I have been teaching tennis privately to adults and children through the City of Huston, and also in a special kids program for the summer time.
