About Taffy

You are not alone! I have a gift for math and explaining it to others. You will be able to improve too with practice and a better understanding of the basic concepts. I scored a 770 on the math portion of the SAT despite the fact that I am slow with computation and found studying the subject to be tedious.

In pre-algebra, when my teacher suggested that perhaps I needed to study more, I studied through the rest of my text book and skipped her pre-algebra class. On the SAT, I only missed about 3-5 questions on all of the math sections but it took practice. That is why I am sure you can succeed! I went on to minor in Math at the college level because it is predictable and anyone can improve with practice.

With my B.A. in Philosophy, I am in a unique position to understand other's struggles with Math and explain the kind of thinking required to achieve in the subject. With some simple thinking strategies and basic review, I helped my wife, a graduate student in Social Work, increase her math GRE score by more than 250 points.

Everybody thinks differently. As a student of social work with a background in architecture, engineering, law, and philosophy, I will take your unique perspective into consideration. Just send me an email so we can find a place to meet.

Extraordinary tutor! — Scott is a fantastic teacher. I learned something valuable in every lesson I took from Scott. His guidance, enthusiasm, and patience enabled me to change from being mathematically deficient to passing mathematical exams necessary for admission into college programs. In addition to learning, I truly had fun and enjoyed each lesson I had the privilege of taking from him. Scott is a great person and ...
