About Andre

I was born and raised in Guatemala, but always spoke English at home since my mother is from the U.S. Therefore, I am 100% fluent in both English and Spanish. Throughout my childhood, I attended bilingual schools, and subsequently attended a private Spanish-speaking university. While at college in Guatemala, I taught English at three different institutions. Two of the jobs involved teaching adult students, and the other job involved teaching children. The latter was at a Korean academy that specialized in preparing Korean children for entrance exams at English-speaking schools; this opportunity provided me with abundant experience in teaching international students.

Music has always been an integral part of my life. I began to play the piano when I was four years old, and have ever since been captivated by the world of music. Although I enjoyed my college major in my country, I decided to follow my dream of pursuing a career in music. I moved to the U.S. expressly for this purpose, and am now in my senior year majoring in Music Media at the University of Texas at Arlington. I plan to graduate suma cum laude in May 2014, and then continue post-graduate studies in Music Composition. As a student at UT Arlington, I have focused on piano as my primary instrument, although I do play a wide variety of other musical instruments (including voice). I have been well trained in the arts of Music Theory, Ear-Training/Sight-Singing, Music Technology, Music Performance and Music Composition. I have a passion for music, and have enjoyed sharing my knowledge with my music students in private and group lessons.
