I have taught, tutored, and counseled students at the elementary, secondary, and college levels over a period of fifteen years. My Texas State Certifications include Elementary (1-6), Special Education (EC-12), Social Studies (8-12), and School Counselor (EC-12). Students at all levels tend to feel comfortable in my presence as I am very patient and understand what they are going through if they are struggling. Although I am very good at elementary math, I had my struggles with this subject at the high school and college levels and certainly have not forgotten it. My favorite subject to teach is the writing process, and I am available to do so with any age group. My attitude toward writing is that, "If you are literate, and you can tell a story, then you can write about it." Many of my students have concurred with me on this. Being certified as a school counselor, I am quite good at reading how to approach and work with individual students and inspiring them to do their best. Students need to know that there is a reason for learning, and I do my best to express that reasoning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a high school and college instuctor, I have had dozens of students develop and deliver oral presentations to their classmates. I have guided many of these students through this process in private and in small groups. I had difficulties with presenting in front of others in years past, and understand the fears that many people have of speaking in front of others. The key to delivering a succcessful presentation is preparation. By learning what it is that you are presenting as if you are telling a story, your delivery will be smooth and probably interesting.
