I have experience in teaching pre-K through adult level classes. My passion is continuing to enhance my Japanese skills. I particularly enjoy teaching love of all things Japanese to young children.

I have taught English as a Second Language in Japan to elementary and middle school students, as well as adults. I have extensive experience in creating curriculum for K-5. I love languages, and to learn about other cultures, and I believe that immersion in second language and cultural awareness should begin in elementary school. I hope you will allow me to present the Japanese language to your child in a fun, engaging way.

I hope you will invite me to be part of your quest to further your knowledge!

Patient and knowledgeable tutor

Ms. Kem is the best. She helped my son learn new techniques to help him read and understand better. He is super excited about her coming to tutor him again. This was his first lesson with her and we are so thankful to have a tutor like Ms. Kem.

good job

Kim is doing a great job with our son and her personality is working great with our son to keep him engaged.

Jerry, 34 lessons with Kem
Tutor responded:

Thank you so much for your feedback Jerry! I'm very happy to hear that your son is enjoying his lessons. I think he is having fun and forgetting that he is actually working hard, which is great!

I like that she listens to you regarding your child

After losing my initial tutor, it was important to find someone that my grandson could work well with. We asked him after the first interview, "So what do you think of Ms. Kem?" He said, "Well,(pause), she's very smart and I like her!" with a large smile. That's all I needed to hear. When my daughter spoke with Ms. Kem, she received the same warm feeling about her. She's very comfortable to speak with and easily adapts when you need her to. It's been just a few sessions so it's hard to tell at this time anything further, but my grandson is happy with his tutor and because he likes her, he's learning again and that makes me his grandma happy.

Tutor responded:

Thank you so much! It is a great privilege to work with your grandson!

Really good and very nice tutor!

We have only had one meeting so far with Kem, but I am sure we will have many more. She is very nice and seems extremely knowledgeable in Japanese. I am sure she is going to help my daughter. Kudos to Wyzant. This is my second successful tutor find for my HS age daughter.

Melissa, 1 lesson with Kem
Tutor responded:

Melissa, I look forward to many very productive Japanese lessons with your daughter!

Patient and Encouraging

Great

Kem has been teaching my 2 girls swimming all summer. I have nothing but praises for her. The girls love her, she is patient with them and above all their skills have improved tremendously. Very professional and always on time. Highly recommended.

Uzo, 20 lessons with Kem
Tutor responded:

Uzo, It has been a great pleasure to teach your girls! They are so full of life! I always look forward to seeing them.

Very encouraging, consistent

Kem has been a great influence on Tatum and her swimming experience. She looks forward to her lessons each day and is progressing at a good pace without fear of the water or any bad experiences. This is wonderful considering she is 4 and her lessons are 1 hour long. I am very pleased. Thank you Kem and WyzAnt

Sandra, 9 lessons with Kem
Tutor responded:

Thank you so much Sandra! It has been a great pleasure!

Great tutor! Highly recommended!

My experience with Kem was great! She was very patient, and I learned a lot in only a matter of months. She tries to make it as fun as possible so we don’t spend so much time just sitting with books in our hands, she always knows of good places including restaurant, festivals, ect. where you can learn not just from reading about the Japanese language and culture but experience it. It made learning enjoyable and easier. She's always easy to contact and can always arrange her schedule for you. Also places for meetings where always easy and great, she's always open to any suggestions you have on where to meet and how you want you lessons to be. And I could tell she enjoys teaching it just as much as I enjoyed learning it! She's always so enthusiastic when it comes to the Japanese culture! I highly recommended her if your REALLY interested in Japanese culture and want to learn all you can about it and their language!
