##### About John

Since retiring from a career in chemical engineering, I have greatly enjoyed a second career as a teacher (high school and college level) and tutor. I was nominated, by a student, for a outstanding faculty member award. Also, I have made three presentations at the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT).

I specialize in teaching chemistry and math from algebra through integral calculus. I have successfully taught students of various ability level. My teaching experience includes teaching developmental math students in college through gifted high school students.

The primary feedback I have received from students is that I am very patient and am able to explain concepts in a way that is easy for them to understand. A large part of my success as a private tutor is that I access what a student already knows and proceed from there.

One student I have tutored mentioned that she greatly increased her science score on the ACT as a result of my help. This enabled her to be accepted into the competitive college that was her first choice for her undergraduate education.

I prefer to meet in a public space such as a library or quiet coffee shop. However, I will gladly meet in another location if it is more convenient for the student.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve your goals.
