Teaching is my second and favorite career; I love teaching mathematics! Now in my 20th year, I became a National Board Certified Teacher of Mathematics in 2008. I currently teach Honors Geometry and Regular Geometry, but over the years have I taught just about every high school math course. My first career was as an Electrical Engineer in fiber optic telecommunications with some of America's top companies. Over the course of 14 years, I worked both technically and in management. I earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and Stanford University, respectively.

I have a wife who is also a teacher, two children in their 30's, and four grandsons. I am an active cyclist and enjoy golf, bowling, pool, and ping-pong. I once carried a 202 bowling average for the season and back in the 70's I played Professional Putt-Putt.

My entire focus is on learning and I will use all of my teaching and practical real-world engineering background to help a student learn. Along with my current focus on Geometry and Algebra, I bring years of experience in recognizing learning gaps and knowing how to best help a student fill them. I specialize in both standard and honors level math with experience through AP Statistics and advanced AICE-level Pre-Calculus.

While I'm still teaching in the classroom and providing my students with free after school help, I'm now also starting to provide online tutoring. If you'd like some help improving those high school level math skills, please contact me to learn more and schedule lessons.

Thorough and careful to watch thought processes pupil in order to choose best teaching approach

Patient and caring about the learning style of the pupil. Careful to assess learning style in order to approach best teaching practice. Allows for any and all questions and lets student drive the sessions in order to get a sense how the student is thinking through the processes. Now we always know who to turn to throughout our daughter's high school years!
