I'm a PhD candidate in Cultural Anthropology at SMU. I am writing my dissertation on urban migration in China. I have taught several university level courses, and developed my own syllabi. I teach all my students to write in a clear, concise style. I encourage independent thinking, and reward intellectual risk-taking.
To date I have successfully guided five high school students through the college application process, including SAT tutoring, essay composition, and academic counseling. I also have experience tutoring middle school and elementary school students in all subjects. In fact, I have a daughter in first grade whom I teach every single day.
I can greatly help you improve not only the composition but also the content of your essays. I have published articles in peer-reviewed journals. I have proof-read grant applications, college admission essays, and doctoral dissertations. I also keep a blog of my research.
I look forward to helping you improve your writing and study skills, and meeting all your academic and life goals. Please contact me to schedule lessons, or for any other inquiries. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a master's degree in cultural anthropology from Southern Methodist University, and am currently a PhD candidate in cultural anthropology at Southern Methodist University. I have taught several courses on the subject.
As an adjunct professor, I have given weekly lectures to between 30 and 90 undergraduates. Additionally, I have given public presentations on my research findings, and I successfully defended my research proposal in front of my dissertation committee. I feel very comfortable speaking in public, and have even lectured in mandarin Chinese.
