I am a just retired educator. I was born in Chile and have been residing in the U.S.A. for 45 years. I taught Spanish at the High School and College levels. I've always offered private classes, using my own interactive method of teaching. In addition to teaching, I have worked as a professional Educational Counselor, both at the High School and University levels. I love my profession because it has given me the opportunity to make a difference in many students' lives.
For me, the moment a student understands an explanation and learns a concept it is a miracle, a miracle which gives me great satisfaction and keeps me motivating the student to continue learning.

Rene is tutoring my son in Spanish. He makes Spanish easier to understand. After one tutoring session my son already is understanding his assignments better. He finally feels like he is starting to make headway. Definitely recommend Rene for tutoring.
Rene is knowledgeable, professional, patient and very good at explaining difficult concepts. Rene tutored me in college Spanish II and I highly recommend him to all ages and at all levels.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a Master´s Degree in Guidance and Counseling and have worked as an Educational Adviser for many years. In Dallas, I worked 10 years for Northwood University, and currently am working as a part-time adviser at a college. If you need proof of my degree, I would be happy to provide it for you.
I am a Spanish instructor by profession. I just don't happen to speak the language. I have studied it and taught it for over 40 years, using a unique method designed by myself with excellent results.
In addition to general vocabulary, attention is also paid to any particular vocabulary based on the student´s needs.
Practice exercises are also designed according to the needs of the student.
The first thing I do in my sessions is establish the difference between verbs "ser" & "estar", which both translate into English as "to be". This is very confusing for foreign-language speakers. Then we continue with the present, past, and future tenses of the 16 most used verbs. Verbs are the core in any language, and it happens to be that it is the most difficult thing to learn/teach in the Spanish language; that is why I emphasize in verbs. Vocabulary is learned along the way.
