I am a chemistry instructor having over 15 years of teaching/tutoring experience (community college and university) and an extensive background in advanced chemistry courses (as a PhD student). I can effectively communicate scientific information in a concise, simple, and understandable manner while making learning fun and enjoyable. I have taught college level general chemistry and privately tutored both college and high school students.

My tutoring experience covers General Chemistry I and II (science and non-science majors), AP and Honors Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry courses. I have also lectured general chemistry and upper level physical chemistry laboratory concepts. I am also familiar with online teaching methods such as Mastering Chemistry.

I love math and science, especially chemistry, and have a passion for problem solving. I use simple teaching methods that make chemistry easy to grasp and I’m always seeking to improve with new and innovative techniques for each of my students.

Most importantly, what I love about tutoring is knowing that at the end of each session, I have made a difference in someone’s education that has helped them excel in areas of math and science which for them just seems to be a difficult journey.

I consider myself to be an exceptional chemistry teacher/tutor because I am very knowledgeable and work relentlessly to ensure that my students fully comprehend difficult concepts. I make every effort in creating and maintaining a professional, cooperative, and safe learning environment for all of my students. I am also very aware that each individual learns differently, some at a faster pace than others, but regardless of your academic level (or needs), I am here to help anyone having a strong work ethic and readiness to learn.

Given the competition, college students and parents of high schoolers want the finest education for themselves as well as their children, and I strive to do my best in providing clear and quality instruction.

Excellent tutor, makes Gen Chem 2 easy!

I’ve gone through quite a few tutors on Wyzant and Gail is hands down the best I’ve had. She knows the material like the back of her hand and as a result, can breakdown each step required to approaching questions. I’m currently enrolled in college level Gen Chem 2 and Gail was able to pinpoint areas that I needed to refresh from Gen Chem 1, in addition to assisting with current lecture topics such as calculating solubility & solubility constants, compound dissociation, when and how to use ICE tables etc. My school is pretty difficult & as a health science major, Chem class has been my kryptonite. I’m honestly so grateful I found Gail & I look forward to many more sessions with her!

Gail W. is a very effective teacher

After a weekly class with Gail for a portion of my semester, she helped me boost my grade from a dismal F all the way to a B! Not only did she carefully explain all the topics I needed help with, but she was very particular about sending me the boards after lessons and helping me manage my testing anxiety.

Can’t wait for our next lesson!

Gail was knowledgeable, encouraging, and incredibly helpful in my daughter’s first lesson with her for honors chemistry. I’m hopeful that, with Gail’s guidance, my daughter will have a very successful semester.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Gail covered AP Chemistry with my daughter who is a junior in high school. She was very helpful and we are signing up for another lesson. She is very personable and helped my daughter sort through all the AP topics that were handed to her.

Very Helpful

Gail explains topics in a way that makes them simple to understand. And even if you don’t get something the first time, she is happy to explain it in different ways.
