In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

This course aids the student in Pre Colonial to Current American History. Individual assessment and specific eras are encouraged to focus on as well as time periods of interest.

Bible Studies

My BA/BS in Christian Ministries/Music encompasses 26 credit hours in Bible/Religion. In addition to these courses, I completed extension credit units& training at Stonebriar Community Church of small group facilitator, "Descubriendo" (Discovery Discipleship), Bible Study Methods, and the Gospel of St. John. The Bible classes were provided by Dallas Theological Seminary. My undergraduate GPA is 3.649.

English

This course is completely determined by the need and assessment of the student. Studies include: grammar, comprehension, language, writing & reading.

General Music

Music is one of my dual majors for which I earned my bachelor's degree. A total of 65 credit hours represent studies in piano, voice, trombone, guitar, band, choir, woodwinds, theory, harmony, aural, conducting, form/analysis & history. My GPA is 3.65. I taught private piano for more than 10 students, student taught at El Camino Academy, an international school Bogotá, Colombia (music & drama).

Grammar

This course is straight-forward. After an individual assessment, the student is actively engaged in a more thorough understanding of grammar & usage.

Music Theory

Music Theory can be scary, but once the student sees this puzzle from an amazing perspective, all the pieces fit together & make sense. Learn basic to advanced theory that covers: Rhythm, Harmony, Melody, Structure, Form, Texture, etc. Sounds too technical? Sure, but for the active learner, there's no boring lecture. For the academic, no problem.
