The University Of Oklahoma (Aerospace Engineer)
I am an experienced professional currently employed as a contractor for NASA's Johnson Space Center working on the International Space Station Program. I would like to consider myself a success story of tutoring help, as I was not the greatest math student early on. Through hard work and practice I was able to complete my degree in Aerospace Engineering, completing courses including Calculus I-IV, Differential Equations, Discreet Mathematics, and Partial Differential Equations.
I would like to have an impact on the student by increasing their confidence, their understanding, and helping them to understand how math is used in our lives every day (and not just as an engineer). Every math subject builds on the previous ones, so falling behind only makes thing more difficult every year afterward. Having a solid understanding of the fundamentals will make success at higher levels much easier.
Since my background is in engineering (with some computer science as well), I have a great appreciation for applied math. Because of this it is easy for me to relate what we are studying with what types of problems utilize these approaches.
Please feel free to contact me and learn more. I am available most evenings or weekends. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
