About Kristen

I am currently a Middle School Math Content Specialist for 7th & 8th grade math for YES Prep Public School District. Prior to joining the team at YES, I was an 8th grade math teacher (for 4 years) and math department head (1 year) in Spring ISD. I am currently certified to teach 4-8 grade math; and am looking to add high school certification to my credentials in the near future. I am a proud alumni of Texas Woman's University where I graduated cum laude and earned a Bachelors degree in Mathematics with a minor in Education (2012). I also hold a Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction for Math Education (2015). I have been recognized as the Rookie Teacher of the year my first year in Spring ISD, and last year, I was recognized by the Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators as the Teacher of the Year for my campus. I have served on a committee for the Texas Education Agency as well as other similar professional platforms. Math has always been my favorite subject. I enjoy learning new skills, strategies and exploration of math content. My goal is to encourage and give all students the support they need so that they feel confident that they CAN do it!

My tutoring style is designed to cater to the individual needs of the student.

I love math, helping others, and I believe my professionalism mixed with my personality will make me a great candidate to be your tutor!

My Best!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I would like to qualify to take this test, to broaden my clientele. I am currently an 8th grade math teacher, but I have experience with 6th and 7th grade math as well. My current certification is in 4-8 mathematics, and I recently received a Masters degree in curriculum and instruction for math education.
