I teach because I love teaching. I have lived and worked as a teacher in Japan, Korea, and the United States, educating kids from kindergarten all the way to college seniors. My philosophy is that the true value I can provide as a teacher is helping students set ambitious, achievable goals, enhancing their resilience in the face of hardships and failures, and enabling them to manage their own learning moving forward.

Tutoring is my preferred form of teaching because I can adjust the pace and content to the specific needs of each of my students. As a tutor I have the opportunity to develop a relationship of mentorship, in which I help students surpass their limits with my knowledge of learning science.

As an EFL/ESL teacher, I've taught hundreds of students from all over the world in English grammar and conversation, and taken multiple students to first place prizes in municipal speech contests, and finals in prefectural speech contests in Japan.

I've worked at one of the most premier SAT/ACT test prep companies in the country to help students achieve entry at some of the most prestigious universities in the US.

I have a bachelor's degree in Japanese and lived in Japan for six years. I've worked with many friends, classmates, and fellow expats to improve their Japanese fluency and get them ready for the JLPT.

I am a trained expert in independent learning and learning strategy. My goal as a teacher is to put myself out of a job by enhancing student self-efficacy, training them to manage their emotions, and teaching them to teach themselves without the need of a tutor in the future.
