Bio

For the past five years I've been a professional journalist and copy editor working in a variety of mediums. Since 2012 I've been a contributing editor for 20/20 Magazine and The Optician's Handbook, a pair of publications dedicated to eyewear and the optical field. In this capacity I've written stories on everything from eyeglass fashion to practice management. Since 2012 I've been a contributing editor for 20/20 Magazine and The Optician's Handbook, a pair of publications dedicated to eyewear and the optical field. In this capacity I've written stories on everything from eyeglass fashion to practice management. In 2014, a story I wrote on the evolution of mens' eyewear, "Guywear," served as the cover story of our annual mens' fashion issue, and in 2016 I was invited to the LBJ Museum in Austin, Texas to conduct research for a featured article on President Johnson's eyewear collection.

Since 2013 I have been a contributing writer to the horror and science fiction magazine Rue Morgue, writing articles, conducting interviews, and doing reviews on new and classic films. In 2014, I was responsible for the first published biography of British actress Vanessa Howard, "Remembering Vanessa," which was published in the Spring issue of Screem Magazine, a quarterly horror journal. In 2015, a series of interviews I conducted with Bert I. Gordon, director of most of the "giant monster" films of the 1950s, was the basis for the March cover story of Rue Morgue.

I graduated Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University in 2011 with a BS in Psychology. Meeting the science requirement for my degree also led to my taking numerous biology courses, and had I so chosen, could have graduated with a double minor in Biology/English by taking two additional biology course.

I have five years experience in professional writing, both creative as well as journalism. Additionally, in college, I was the vice president in charge of advertising for my campus' chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta, the literary honor society of junior colleges.

In addition to being widely read in 20th century literature and most of the western canon, I have had works published myself. A short story I wrote, "Hindsight," was the first piece of fiction to be published in 20/20 Magazine, and three short stories I wrote were featured in Swirl Magazine, the literary arts journal of Montgomery County, Texas. In 2016, I sold my first novel, "Our Lady of the Inferno," to Fear Front Publishing, and it went into print in December of that year. The book was well received within the thriller/horror community and I was invited to give a presentation on it at Texas Frightmare Weekend 2017, an annual convention/symposium on horror and science fiction films and books.
