Drawing, painting, drums, percussion. These four words sum up what drives me and defines my mediums of expression. My father is a professional drummer and artist, so I was naturally exposed to the visual and performing arts relatively young. I started playing the drums as early as I can remember learning by ear watching my dad eventually studying percussion in school on into college. My formal music training coupled with my natural abilities has really lead to a diverse and dynamic understanding of music. I have taught kids as young as 9 to adults and everywhere in between.
Much like music, I am largely self taught in art, although I do have 2 degrees in art from two separate colleges. My personal work is largely based on the human figure and is realistic. From portraits to life drawing in all dry media and paint especially oil paint. I'm very technical and have taught a number of students how to paint and draw.
I love art and music, and I love sharing my abilities and knowledge with eager students who have the same passion and are ready to put in the satisfying hard work to grow to their potential. Drawing, painting, drums, percussion. These four words sum up what drives me and defines my mediums of
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 2 degrees in the fine arts. A BFA in Studio Art from WTAMU and an Associates in Art from Amarillo College. My specialty is drawing and painting. I have taught a range of ages and ability levels in drawing and painting.
I have been playing drums since I was 6-7. I initially learned by ear playing the drum set. I started my formal education at age 12 in percussion all the way to 3 years of study at a collegiate level at WTAMU. I have taught many kids and a few adults the drum set. I can play by ear and read music.
