I have been a certified teacher in Texas for over 17 years. I've taught speech communication for high school credit, PreAP English/writing for middle school, and I am currently teaching Technology Applications. I have experience with considered needs students in social and academic settings.
I understand now to meet the needs of students from where they are in order to take them to where they need to be. This includes more challenging students as well. While patience is a hallmark, creativity in teaching is actually my forte. I enjoy building relationships with students so they trust me to take them to new places with certainty. I am also certified to teach reading and the whole of the Geography composite (geography, social studies, world history, US history, government, Texas history). While English is my strong suit, history is my passion.
I am equally passionate about my love of different sciences, cooking and sewing as well. I take part in medieval recreations, and create garb to wear to such events. I further enjoy cooking, baking, and exploring new recipe ideas. I am currently exploring new recipes to use in order to boost overall health. There are far too many "I"'s here, but in essence, I have many interests, a wealth of travel and world applied knowledge, and the patience to accept students where they are. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
