About Jordan

Hello!

My name is Jordan. I am 18 (soon to be 19) years old, and graduated high school back in June. Throughout the years, I have been complimented on my intelligence, and have decided to take a shot at being an English tutor.

I haven't had any previous experience with tutoring, but I hope my other qualifications pass as acceptable reasons for being hired. Back in January, I took the SAT (a standardized test taken nationwide), and received an overall score of 1830. The nationwide average score for this test is approximately 1500 (or, it was when I last checked), and the average score for public Texas high school seniors in 2012 was 1422- in other words, I did really well on the test, considering the odds. My writing score, out of 800, was 680, and my reading score, also out of 800, was 590 (I also made a 560 on the math, but I'm considering that irrelevant here). On the essay portion of the test, I got an 8 out of 12.

In my pre-AP/AP (advanced placement) English classes throughout high school, I very rarely did poorly on an English test or essay, and was often complimented by most of my English teachers.

...I realize now that this just sounds like a bunch of bragging, so I'm going to try and talk about some other stuff for now. My favorite color is green, and I'm very fond of the word onomatopoeia. I absolutely adore animals of all sorts, and they take up a lot of interest in my life- in fact, in my house, we have nine pets. Our four dogs are Sadie ("Boxador"), Scout (shepherd mix), Bella (Beagle), and Phoebe (Chihuahua). Our three cats are Ivy (black), Delilah (calico), and Jareth (orange) (oh, I should mention, he was named after David Bowie's character in Jim Henson's "Labyrinth"). I also have two rats, named Boots and Socks, that I got back in May.

I hope you find me to your liking, and that I meet your standards for an English tutor! I will be more than happy to help anyone out with anything English-related, be it vocabulary, writing, spelling, or what have you. I am open for trying any sort of method the student(s) feel best suits their ability to learn, and will encourage going above and beyond standard school requirements, because I believe everyone has what it takes to get ahead.

Have a nice day!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
