Texas A&M University (Environmental Design)
Hi! I studied physics at Boston College and received a degree in environmental design, a pre-architecture degree, from Texas A&M University. My tutoring style is extremely interactive and I particularly enjoy helping students with physics and math. My goal is to help students understand the basic concepts and methods behind problem solving so that they can apply what they learn through the tutoring sessions to their exams and classroom experiences.
At Boston College I took both calculus and multi-variable calculus in addition to several physics classes, including; Modern Physics, Waves and Vibrations, Electric and Magnetic Physics, and Mechanical Physics. At Texas A&M I aced Structures and Astronomy. I scored a perfect 800 on both the SAT Math section and the SAT Math II. I received a 5 on the Calculus AB, Physics I, and Physics II AP exams.
I can also help students with English, writing, and vocabulary. I received a minor in art and architecture history from Texas A&M and have written several articles and interviews for a national non-profit organization. I have experience helping high school students edit English assignments and college admissions essays to schools such as MIT, Stanford, and Cal. Tech.
Finally, I would also be more than willing to help any students develop strong time-management skills and study habits. I grew up with ADHD and am familiar with the struggles and challenges that it presents to students striving for academic success. My goal in working with students with ADHD is to help them plan for success by teaching them how to structure and allocate their time. Additionally, I learned several adjustment techniques while in college which helps retain focus and energy over longer periods of time.

One hour minimum sessions. The hour rate will be applied to any session that is less than one hour.
Very good lesson. She was very punctual, spent the entire hour tutoring. My son got more from her than other tutors we’ve used. She was very focused on the student & did a great job explaining things to him.
Got straight to the lesson. My son will use Marie-Clarie again. Got a lot accomplished in an hour.
Marie-Claire tutors in a style that makes it very easy for me to understand the physics topic we are covering. She breaks things down into steps to show me how we derive the formulas that we use and this helps me in the long term to remember what formula I am supposed to be using for each problem.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
