I played basketball in high school and undergrad (NCAA student athlete).
I am Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Explorer, Internet use, MAC and PC use, and Adobe InDesign.
I am a Public speaker and a workshop facilitator. I have spoken in various states and for various religious organizations. I am also a creative writer and poet.
Tutoring and teaching methods:
I believe learning is hands on and interactive. The student will learn to understand that learning can be fun, but it is a process; we will get to the right answer, but first we will understand the process. Learning is about engagement and teaching life skills. I don't just teach the lesson, I teach the student how it can be applied to life. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played basketball for 20years. My high school team was state finalist the years that I played. I played division III NCAA for 4 years and I was a co-captain. I play the point guard position, but I am knowledgeable about all postions. I have also coached 9-10 year olds and 7th-12th grade summer leagues and camps.
I am a licensed minister and I have a Master's degree in Divinity from Vanderbilt. In undergrad I also minored in religious studies.
I have successfully made it thorough undergrad and grad school, organized, and with honors. I have found ways to juggle a busy schedule and finding tactics that helped me study most effectively. I can teach one how to time mange and teach methods and tricks that help their learning style.
