For my entire career, I have a demonstrated passion for teaching and coaching students at all levels including adults.

My university level education was completed at a small liberal arts institution. The expectations were high and that each student receive a well-rounded, diverse level of knowledge in many subject areas.

I hold a Texas Teaching Certification in Latin and Social Studies. In my teaching career, I have taught high school classes in World History, World Geography and American Government.

My teaching and tutoring experience is diverse as well. I currently teach all levels of Latin at the secondary school level including Pre-AP and AP levels. My focus is to help my students score on the SAT and ACT tests each year.

In addition, I have taught in the Homebound student program for 3 years. That program has been very rewarding for me personally. Working individually with these students who have challenges has made me a better tutor.

In my corporate learning and development career at the director level, I have facilitated courses in leadership development, interpersonal communications, customer service, employee engagement and empowerment, tactical supervisory leadership, human relations, and management.

I have coached business leaders and specialize in developing personal communication skills including public speaking.

Great tutor

Richard worked on process skills which were very useful. Providing clear and systematic methodology to translation is a great foundation for my son as he is working on more challenging material.

Excellent session

Richard is amazing at knowing how humans learn. He did a great job with test prep for a Latin final. My son went from understanding little to grasping the concept within a fee sessions from games, websites and rote. Well worth the money.

Help with US History AP

Very patient and knowledgeable instructor in US History, it was a pleasure finding an excellent teacher who knows and can explain the subject very well. He had taught our son Latin and he is excellent with classics as well.

Thoughtful and patient tutor

Richard was pleasant and courteous with my son and worked hard to awaken in him some interest in American History. Richard went through the chapter with him and was able to make the textbook far more interesting than the text alone. He was great!

Julie, 2 lessons with Richard

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Reviewed Latin nouns and verbs in sentences which improved and increased confidence. Suggested strategies on how best to learn Latin. Will definitely see again as very knowledgeable Latin tutor!

Outstanding tutor!

I first met Richard because I needed help with an application essay for a summer program. He helped me find the perfect balance of ideas for my essay. He also helped me not just fix, but understand the mistakes I was making. I decided to take his help for the verbal section of the SAT after that. Although I had just one lesson with him before the test, I felt much more confident. And this time, I actually recognized the grammar rules being tested! I would definitely recommend Richard to anyone struggling with writing or grammar. He is an amazing teacher!
