Northern Arizona University (interdisciplinary)
Hello, I was always interested in teaching; ever since I was able to sit my Barbies and babies down in front of my classroom (chalkboard and a yellow desk) at 6 years old, I knew I wanted to teach. I studied Psychology and Education in college and was in NAU's elementary education program from 2008-2010. Unable to afford to take a semester off work while I student taught I instead continued on and studied Autism for a semester landing my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Learning and Pedagogy. I love to learn and have studied different cultures and religions since graduating.
I enjoy also learning how to teach my own children and have taken classes and seminars for parenting and early learning in order to help further and foster their learning.
I have tutored professionally as well as my own family members. Professionally, I have assisted in 1st, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms when I lived in Arizona. I was a Title I instructional tutor for a high school from 2005-2007. I ran the tutoring center at Moon Valley High School with my fellow Title I tutors. I have Early Childhood Education experience and was a Head start teacher in 2004-2005. I enjoy teaching children to read and have assisted my own cousins, nieces, and nephews during their learning journey. I hope to assist you or your children in their learning experience.
I have helped tutor high school students in writing and reading areas. I enjoy writing personally and have written poems, blogs, and short stories. I have taken classes in college to help early learners with the skills of English as a core subject.
I studied common core standards in my elementary education program through NAU. I had to connect all of my lesson plans that I had created to the common core standards.
I completed the Elementary Education program through NAU. I have taken classes on how to teach elementary math to children, teaching literacy, teaching English, science and social studies. I have created and taught lesson plans in all elementary subjects alongside certified teachers through my practices for the program. I passed the Arizona State teacher certification test.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken classes in common core standards and taught various lessons backed by the standards. I have tutored high school math and English subjects. I worked as a Head Start teacher following curriculum based on the common core.
