About Kook Young

Hello!

I'm a Harvard Graduate with over 5 years of experience as a College Essay Editor / Personal Statement Consultant.

I worked as a Harvard Financial Aid Initiative Coordinator for three years at the Harvard Financial Aid Office and have over 5 years of experience as a college interviewer. I've helped dozens of students get admitted into Ivy League colleges, as well as private and public Universities in the United States.

I strive to be thoughtful, accurate, and constructive with my edits and almost always reply within 48 hours.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me about any questions you might have and thank you in advance for your time. Good luck with your application!

Math Qualifications:

I was very involved in Math competitions throughout my high school career. I was President of our Math team for 2 years and competed in local, district, and state competitions from 2003 to 2006. I placed 4th in the annual UIL Texas State Math Competition in Calculator Applications in 2006.

Once in college my course work focused on Algebra 2 and Calculus where I assisted teaching fellows in that subject area. I tutored students and met with people one-on-one to go over problem sets and questions and over the course of my life I have taken classes in Elementary Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Geometry. I've also been a private Math tutor for over 5 years.

I currently tutor K-12 students using the Mathnasium method of teaching at a Math Center and enjoy working with Elementary and Middle School students as much as High School and College age students. I strive to be patient, calm, and helpful and look forward to working with you. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
