Hola! Hello!

My name is Benito and I have over 10 years of tutoring experience. I also have 6 years of experience as a College Essay Editor / Personal Statement Consultant.

While living in the cold northeast, I worked as a Harvard Financial Aid Initiative Coordinator and Undergraduate Minority Recruiter for three out of the four years I was there. Our team gave campus tours, hosted Q&A sessions with parents and students, answered phone calls from prospective students/parents, and supported each incoming class during pre-frosh weekend and beyond. Since graduating, I've interviewed students for the college almost every year.

For my Personal Statement Consulting business I've helped students get admitted into Ivy League colleges, as well as private and public Universities across the United States. When it comes to college essays, I'm committed to working with you to showcase your best self, while ensuring that your essay and responses are original, and authentic. I'm not here to encourage you to fabricate your life story so that you can have an upper hand in the admissions process. You've worked hard, you've had to overcome all kinds of difficulties in your life, and I know you want to present your best self. That's what I'm here to work with you on.

I strive to be thoughtful, constructive, and encouraging with my edits. My turnaround time is usually between 48 and 72 hours.

As someone who has worked at Google and explored 14 countries, I also try to offer some perspective to my students. Having a global perspective is something I encourage everyone I meet to have.

In summation, please don't hesitate to reach out to me about any questions you might have about the college application process and/or how to best approach the college essay portion of your application. I'm here to help. Thank you in advance for your time and I look forward to working with you.

Math Teaching Qualifications:

I was a mathlete in high school and competed at the city and state level for UIL Math Competitions. Once in college I tutored students in Algebra 2 and Calculus. I've been a math tutor for more than 7 years now and spend some of my time working with students in Asia who are preparing for the SAT's. I also have a year of experience working with K-8 students as a Mathnasium tutor.

I know the thought of doing math provokes an allergic reaction in some people. I'm here to help you feel more confident about working out math problems by explaining why certain problems are solved in certain ways.

I consider myself patient, calm, and creative when it comes to tutoring students in math. I hope you find the courage to reach out to me if you feel like I'm the right tutor for you.

As always, I look forward to working with you. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Math Qualifications: I was very involved in Math competitions throughout my high school career. I was President for 2 years and competed in local, district, and state competitions for three consecutive years. I placed 4th in the annual UIL Texas State Math Competition in Calculator Applications in 2006 and studied after school every day. Once in college my course work focused on Algebra 2 and Calculus where I assisted teaching fellows in that subject area. I tutored students and met with people one-on-one to go over problem sets and questions. I have taken classes in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Elementary Math and Geometry. I've also been a Math tutor for 5+ years. Right now, I tutor K-12 students using the Mathnasium method and enjoy working with Elementary and Middle School students as much as High School and College age students. I am patient, calm, and observant, and I enjoy working with students in a way that challenges them to think both creatively and logically.
