I have worked in elementary education for the last seven years. During this time, I also obtained my Master's degree of technology in curriculum and instruction. During the years I taught, I worked in different full inclusions schools. Both were located in predominantly military communities. I have extensive experience with students with diverse backgrounds as well as students will specific learning impairments. Over the previous seven years of my teaching career I have taught in a full inclusion school. I have had many students with ADD/ ADHD and have worked closely with the student assistance team to modify and refine assignments as well as learning environments.
Over the past three years I have worked closely with Common Core standards in NM. I was part of a pilot program the first year and since then have implemented and developed curriculum to address the needs of the learners.
I have worked closely to address the needs of students with dyslexia in my classroom over the past seven years. I have implemented many modifications and brought in many useful tools such as color screens to assist students.
In 2008, I completed by Bachelor's Degree in Elementary education K-8 with teaching fields in Language Arts and Social Studies. In 2013, I completed my Master's Degree in Technology in Curriculum and Instruction. I have worked at the Alamogordo Public schools since 2008 as an Elementary teacher.
As an early elementary educator for the past seven years I have utilized several handwriting programs with my students. I have also created materials based on students needs to improve handwriting.
Over the past seven years of teaching I have taught phonics based program to my early elementary students. Among the programs I have implemented was project read a phonetically based reading core curriculum.
Throughout the past seven years I have been an educator I have taught in full inclusion schools. I have worked closely with the student assessment team to address the needs of many children with a large array of special needs.
As a student as well as an educator I have done extensive research on and application with a variety of study skill methods. Throughout my research the greatest piece of information I learned is to address study skills based on learner type and need.
