I am a graduate of linguistics from the University of Texas at El Paso. Currently, I teach ESOL at El Paso Community College and at the University of Texas at El Paso.
At EPCC, I primarily teach English to adults from other countries during the night program. These adults are people learning English for their jobs, for their own interest, or in order to get better jobs. So, classes are designed with these circumstances in mind.
At UTEP, I teach reading, writing, and grammar to university ESOL students. I interact with students in class, but also on a one-on-one basis to help meet their needs in improving and eventually mastering English, so that they can become proficient and stay competitive in a university setting.
I have tutored students in writing, grammar, listening, and speaking. I have also conducted conversation sessions for people to improve their conversational English skills.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Masters in Linguistics. While in graduate school I took classes on how to teach ESOL. I a TESOL certified. I have tutored and taught ESOL to university students.
I teach grammar classes to university and college students as well tutor in this subject area.
I have a lot of experience with Phonetics which is something I love. I have taught and tutored reading to ESOL students and use Phonics to help them through the process. I also like to use dictionaries to show students that there is a pronunciation guide when it comes to words that are unknown or they are unable to read properly.
Depending on the level and need of the students, I tailor lessons after our initial visit. I have tutored children in reading and writing for 3.5 years and have taught ESOL to both adult students and children. I give practice reading with comprehension question as well as writing practice, if needed.
