Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

My experience in this subject areas come from taking basic and advance college classes in English and communication. I was also a member of the El Paso Community College Speech and Debate Team. As a member of the team I had to use my writing skill for college tournaments.

ACT Math

I presently work as a substitute teacher for YISD in El Paso, Texas. My background in math is very extensive with over eighteen college hours in mathematics and a working background in engineering. I will be graduating in 2015 with a degree in Applied Mathematics.

ACT Reading

My experience in this subject area comes from taking basic and advance English and communication college classes. I spent a large amount of time reading and writing papers for these classes. Because of these classes my reading and vocabulary skills have become very extensive.

ACT Science

My background in science stems from a group of college classes in physical science and chemistry. In these classes you learn the building blocks of science. Some of these are Matter, Light, Sound, Heat. Force and Motion to name just few. I have the knowledge and understanding to help you work out these type of problems on your test

Algebra 1

I have built my algebra skills from a number of study blocks. The first one is from taking algebra classes in college. The second is working as a math substitute teacher in middle school and high school. The last step is working with students of all ages as a private math tutor. So you get a patient and understanding tutor who can help you with this subject.

ASVAB

I am familiar with the ASVAB test, because I have taken the before test. I can work with you on any
area of the test that you need help on. I also have background in Math, Science and Mechanical Comprehension and Electronics components . I also have fifteen years' of experience as Quality Control technician in the Mechanical and Electronics field. I also have completed a number advanced hours in college in Mathematics and Science.

English

I have extensive background working with students in many different grade levels. I have been employed as a substitute teacher for number school districts. I worked students in reading, math, science and study skills.

Geometry

My knowledge and skills in geometry come from experience in math and drafting in college engineering classes. This subject can also help you with every day jobs around the house.

Public Speaking

Public speaking is art form.
A public speaker needs to know to their topic well, and to be able to get their audience’s attention and hold it. There is a process that a speaker must go through to develop their skills and become a force in the field of public speaking. These are some of the steps that will help you to reach that goal.
1. Know your audience
2. Know what style to use
3. Know the right way to put your speech together
4. How to give good information
5. Being able to read your audience’s mood.
I have been a student of the written word for a very long time. I started doing competitive debating and public speaking in high school and continue doing this in college. I also worked as a speech and drama judge at high school speech tournaments. My knowledge and my skills in public speaking will help you to be to be an entertaining and informative speaker.

Reading

Reading is a major cornerstone in the learning process. In my approach to tutoring, reading is where all students must build a good, strong foundation. Some of these skills should be in grammar, spelling, and word usage. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, when the words on the page help you to create an image or a scene in your mind. It would be my pleasure to help you to learn about this cornerstone in the learning process. There are many approaches to tutoring, and sometimes it just takes the right person to open that door.
I have extensive background working with students that are at many different grade levels.

Study Skills

Study Skills can help you to build a storage warehouse where you can go to review the skills that you have developed during our tutoring lessons. These building blocks will be in Math, Science, English and any other subject you need help in forming a strong foundation. As a substitute teacher, I am a part of the loop that helps to build the educational frontier of today and tomorrow. I work every day with the skills students need to build on today to be successful for tomorrow.

TAKS

I have extensive background working with students in many different grade levels. I have been employed as a substitute teacher for many area school districts. I have worked in the key academic areas of Reading, Math, Science, and Study Skills. I am presently working as a substitute teacher and a test proctor for The Princeton Review and doing private tutoring for a number different companies.

As a Math Major I have completed a number of advanced hours in Mathematics and Science. At the present time I am a semester and a half away from a two-year degree in Mathematics. In order to reach this point in my education; I had to develop a good study skills program for myself. One of my main steps is to write out important facts: which helps me remember the information better.

We are all capable of learning: the problem we encounter is how to grasp new material in a comprehensible and tangible manner. There are many approaches to tutoring and sometimes it just takes the right person to open that door.
