About Susana

Tutoring has always been a part of my teaching career. I have been in teaching for over 23 years abroad and in the USA. Every time I have extra time and there are students who need help, I always step-in to help out. Most of my clients are high school and college level students. I specialize in mathematics courses, specifically Algebra 1, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Basic Statistics, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Matrix Algebra, math part of TAKS and STARR. On occasion I also teach the math part of the GED test if there is a need. With my long years of teaching mathematics, I was able to accumulate several math resources that helped me grow as a math teacher.

I know there are a lot of people who are also very strong in mathematics, but very seldom that they have the tremendous ability to teach. Teaching is a passion, and if you know the content but you don't have the passion to teach, then it has no meaning.

This is where I have an advantage over other math tutors. I know and have a capability to let my students learn. I know how to differentiate instruction to suit the unique needs of each individual. Modesty aside, for three years in a row in my campus all my students passed the TAKS test. Just recently when the new STARR test results in Algebra 1 and Geometry came out, I got a 100 passing rate. While others were worried about how their students did in the test, mine all passed.

I am a highly qualified teacher in the great State of Texas. I have a standard certification for math 8-12, and an administrator certification for a principal position. I love El Paso. I have lived in this community for almost 10 years. I am very excited and eager to work with El Pasoans outside my campus.

So feel free to contact me for your math needs. I will guarantee your 100 percent success. Thank you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I taught grades k-12 and I specializes in Math but I can still handle other subjects in k-6th. I taught elementary grade for 5 years and those years of experience gave me a vast knowledge on how to teach k-6th students.

Geometry

I have several years in teaching geometry. Currently I'm a math instructor in one of the early colleges here in El Paso.

Precalculus

I have more than 25 years of experience of teaching Math on the high school and undergraduate levels, including Precalculus.

TAKS

I have been teaching TAKS mathematics in 9th, 10th and exit level for almost 9 years. I develop techniques how to attack each problems presented in every objectives.
For the past 3 years my passing rate was at least 80% to 100%. I also able to gather all the materials, released test and practice problems of every objectives ready to use anytime.

Although it is not up to the teacher to pass TAKS but the students but still i really believed a good teaching techniques on how to take TAKS test will be an advantage. From there i will be able to help.

Knowledagble and personable tutor

Susana helped my son study the math areas of the ASVAB. After working with her for a few weeks he scored an exceptionally high score and is qualified for any job offered. I would recommend her to anyone who needs help in tutoring. Not only is she knowledagble, but she is kind and truly cares.
