Hi, my name is Lara. I hold current Texas teaching certificates in general education PK-6 and special education PK-12. I also hold a master’s degree in autism spectrum disorders. I have 20+ years of classroom experience (primarily in special education) and am currently a tutor at a local middle school assisting students who have fallen behind due to the pandemic.
I believe that the key to success is building relationships with students. I use a variety of strategies and approaches to ensure that students are given every opportunity to experience success. Every student learns differently, and I specialize in finding the approach that best fits each individual student.
I believe in giving students some control over their learning, so I often prepare a variety of lessons or types of lessons on a particular topic that students may choose from. I am patient, accepting, and have experienced great success with students diagnosed with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities, as well as with students who have simply fallen behind.
I am excited to meet new students and look forward to the opportunity to continue to make a difference in the lives of children I work with.
