About Jasmine

Bio

My name is Jasmine G., and my tutoring style is pretty direct. For the past three years, I had been volunteer tutoring for subjects like Pre-Calculus, Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, and Geometry. I've been making sure that all concepts are visited and mastered through solving problems and that every step involved in obtaining an answer is completely comprehended. I like to break things down and I want my students to understand why the answer is what it is.

Math is the gateway to so many other disciplines, but it is also the foundation for logical thinking and resourcefulness in approaching any of life's obstacles. I want all of my students to understand that.

I do my best to reach as many audiences as I can. I am fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish, so I am willing to explain things in a language that may be more suitable. Being a certified to tutor in these languages as well, my teaching style entails a very hands on approach through, mainly through conversation. Grammar is essential, especially when dealing with a language like Portuguese, but I want my students to be able to carry on a decent conversation with any native language speaker. I lived in Brazil for 4 years, and maintain close relationships with everyone I meet, so my Portuguese has more of an Amazonian accent. My Spanish is also very South American, even though I mastered it in the Dominican Republic. I know that my students would take with them the conviction of being versed in another language.

Tutoring children and adolescents with special needs has been one of my specialties for almost 5 years. As a behavior interventionist and academic tutor, my methods involve a lot of positive reinforcement. I believe that building up the confidence in my students inspires interest and motivation to explore areas that might seem more challenging to them.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I took this in 6th grade when I was being home schooled. I hated it and thought it was just a bunch of gibberish. When I finally solved my first real algebra problem, it became an addiction and I had to go back for more!

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is twice as fun! First and second year chemistry go hand-in-hand with this one!

Differential Equations

Having earned an "A" through a grueling semester of Differential Equations at UTRGV--a requirement for my electrical engineering degree--I know how to find general solutions and know how to apply Dif Eq. I know when an equation is separable, and if it is not, I know when I have to find the integrating factor. I know how to solve homogeneous and non-homogeneous equations and know how to implement approaches like variation of parameters, power series, and Laplace transforms.

Our 12 year old student gives Jasmine great reviews!!!

Our son is a 7th grater special eduction student in main streem classes. He is very behind in all the subjects. Jasmine has gavie him two lessons as today. We are planning to hire her for the rest of the school year. She is very entusiastic and gives our son mini brakes, redirects him when he gets distracted to get him back to task. We are extremely satisfied with her teaching approch . Five stars!!!

Great job!

Jasmine did a great job. Although we've only had one tutoring session, I look forward to more! My daughter said she did an excellent job of explaining the math processes and is looking forward to more tutorials.

Great Tutor!!! Knowledgeable and patient.

What a great tutor. Super positive. Jasmine helped my son finish his algebra with an "A". She tutors math, science, pre-med, speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese! What a jewel. Highly recommend her.

Right On!

Jasmine really knows how to explain, what I liked about her is that she is really patient and always asks the student if they understand and if they don't she will go step-by-step until you get it. Sometimes she will forget how to do things with so many subjects she tutors, but I like how that doesn't stop her, and she find the way to solve it no matter what, she will not stop until she gets it right and knows that the student gets it.
