I am a 1998 and 2003 graduate of Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in history and my Master's degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I am currently a part-time English teacher. I am in my 17th year of teaching. I love the learning process, to see a student light up when he or she finally understands, and I'm up for any challenge. I have experience teaching most history courses from 6th to 12th grade and various English and reading courses in that range as well. I also have experience tutoring math and reading at the elementary level.
I am passionate about history and social studies. I try to tell history as a story to make it interesting. I also love to put you in the setting so I use lots of maps and other visuals to try to bring the lessons to life.
I believe that students who don't have fun and aren't successful will not learn, so I try to be as encouraging and fun as possible and to set students up for success. I am a flexible person and can meet students somewhere public or they can come to my house for lessons. Parents are always welcomed and encouraged to participate in the lesson as well. I look forward to helping you to meet your goals on your learning journey!
