Hi, my name is Susan Skye (yes, both names, lol)
I'm interested and knowledgeable about many subjects, including (but not limited to) history, science, English, literature, writing, art, music, handicrafts, and design. I have tutoring experience in Elementary reading, math, vocabulary and study skills, and experience teaching private beginner piano and voice lessons. I've been singing for 15 years now and playing piano for 20 years. I'm an expert in Microsoft Office (multiple versions), and I have experience teaching individuals and group classes Microsoft Office and basic computer skills. I can also crochet and sew and I enjoy teaching those skills to children and beginners.
I also have Adult ADD and have tons of experience learning and using effective coping skills, and I can teach those coping skills to children and adults to help them more effectively manage their ADD/ADHD.
I'm currently working on my first novel, and I occasionally read my poetry and sing in local coffee-shop venues. If you'd like to read my work, just ask!
I enjoy people of all ages and backgrounds and have years of first-hand experience working with the public and customer service in addition to my teaching experience.
I'm looking forward to working with you and/or your child! Hi, my name is Susan Skye (yes, both names, lol)

Susan is a very kind and caring person. She works well with my grandson. He can be quiet challenging. She not only helps Cayden, she is a great advisor and support to me.
Susan-Skye assisted my son with math. She was very knowledgeable and patient with my son. She was able to help him complete his homework assignment and get a better understanding.
Susan worked with my daughter and started Writing teaching. She did not loose any time and started right away teaching her writing concepts, starting with building awesome sentences. I liked that! Planning on continuing!
Susan is a great instructor! I'm so glad we found her to teach piano and voice to our 5 year old. Susan is patient and teaches on a level that kids can understand. During the lessons she makes sure my daughter understands what is being taught before moving on; so nothing is rushed. On the first day of meeting Susan, she actually took time out of her personal day to meet with my mother and I at Guitar Center Store to answer questions about a piano before we had purchased it. I'm really happy to have Susan as an instructor for my daughter!
After the first lesson we found Susan to be knowledge and friendly. We are looking forward to the future
I took voice lessons with her and she was amazing! I was scared at first because I had never used this site and she was my first tutor ever, but to my surprise she was sweet and understanding. Not only that but she would suggest material and print out notes for me to practice. I enjoyed having her as a tutor! I recommend her 100%
Susan is very knowlegible in all the aspect of English language, grammer ,literature ,writing ect.
Also very patient and my son liked her a lot.
Susan gave me a great tip on how to begin with helping Jaliyah and her teacher track completed assignments!
Susan is so intelligent and always so focused on each student that she tutors. My twins are so uniquely different and she is able to bring knowledge to them on their own level. She is always so positive and firm. I am so thankful that she tutors our children. Thank you so much for all you do! Merry Christmas, Susan. You always earn Five Stars!
My daughter has enjoyed working with Susan. She has shown a lot of patience with my 6 year old. We are doing 30 min. piano and 30 min. hand sewing. I love how she encourages, "see you can do it." It revives my girl when she thinks she can't do something. Thanks Susan.
I enjoyed the first lesson with her and my son. She kept my son very interested and immediately recognized what lessons she could address by asking the right questions. I would recommend this tutor for anyone!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had ADD all of my life and have learned, and continue to use, various coping skills to ensure I'm an effective person. I have also worked with ADD/ADHD preschool children and I know some of what works and what does not work in teaching them. I'm eager to teach these coping skills to others so that they, to, can be effective.
I've been cooking since I was 8 years old, and enjoy cooking and eating a wide variety of foods. I know both basic and advanced cooking skills. I regularly create new recipes and adjust or modify existing recipes to suit my tastes or others' tastes.
I have been learning, playing and teaching music (off and on) for twenty years. I can play a variety of instruments, and I have taught private children's piano lessons. I also regularly incorporate music into my preschool class.
I have been using Microsoft Windows since childhood. I have taken classes in Windows and computers in general, and I use these skills extensively every day. In previous jobs I was responsible for all computer and software management, and I can load, set up, operate and troubleshoot any Windows OS from 95 to 7.
I've been sewing off and on since I was a child. I can also crochet and cross-stitch. I'm currently teaching one of my younger students sewing and crochet. I'm constantly learning new skills and enjoy helping children and beginners make things they can be proud of.
I've been playing piano for 24 years, and I got started teaching in 2014. I've been very successful because I was trained by a master concert pianist. I now teach remotely for a nationally-recognized company as well as a local brick-and-mortar studio. In addition I have a handful of independent students.
I teach beginner-to-intermediate students of all ages, although I don't normally take students under age 6 (hard to teach them if they can't sit still).
Feel free to ask about my references!
I have previously been a reading tutor and work at a private teaching preschool, and have taught reading and math to my preschool class. I also scored in the 97th percentile in reading on the ACT.
I graduated from college with a 3.8 GPA, which would not have been possible if I didn't know how to study. I make high scores on tests, and I know how to organize my studying in order to make those high scores. I can teach someone else those same study methods that have enabled me to do so well academically.
For example, the most important aspects of studying for a test are reading comprehension and memorization of facts; because a person must memorize the facts, but if they do not comprehend what they have memorized, they will be unable to extrapolate that knowledge on a test.
1. I'm the kind of person who reads the dictionary for fun.
2. Whenever my friends don't know a word, they ask me first, because they know I'll probably know it.
3. I always score high on vocabulary tests.
4. I had a college reading level in the 4th grade.
I have been singing for twenty years in choirs and solo performances. I have been privately trained as well. I also already give voice lessons privately.
I have written poetry, essays, and novels all of my life. I have won awards for my writing. I have performed my poetry live on several occasions to acclaim.
