About LaToshia

I have been actively school tutoring for over 20 years in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. I have worked with DISD through various mentoring programs and while working on my degree at SMU, formed a partnership with their AVID program.

My Master's Degree showed me the benefits of encouraging our students to explore their thought process. This method focuses more on the "why" rather than just memorization techniques taught in school. I am finding this method quite effective and my grade school students whom we're struggling when school first started are now making more B's than C's.

I am currently working on my Educational Doctorate in Adult Education. My main focus is to understand why adults experience math anxiety along with ways to help adults feel confident in performing everyday mathematical functions.

I am a tutor for both grade and college level students, which can be very useful when several members of the family are in school and need guidance.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
