Bio

I've worked in a tutoring or teaching role for most of my adult life, and I love helping other people learn!

While earning my B.S. in math, I worked in my university's math clinic, tutoring a variety of (math) subjects, and while I was in graduate school I was a teaching assistant in the math department for two years, and for one year I worked in a high school geometry classroom, both enriching the students' education and my ability to communicate and teach. I've been a private tutor in the years since.

I can also tutor technology and programming topics; I love programming about as much as I love math, and I've been improving and making use of that skill since I was in high school. I know a number of languages and frameworks, such as Java, Android, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and more!

Python

I've got nearly a decade of experience tutoring and teaching, and a few years experience tutoring programming specifically. I've know Python since I was in high school, and I've used it off and on over the years. In particular, I've used it to complete all of my assignments and projects in my computational physics course, all of which I received good grades for. I've also used Python to write small GUI applications.

Better instructor than the professors in my Grad Program

Justin is helping me augment my Java knowledge for a couple of graduate projects. His understanding of the Java programming language is incredible, and he relates it in such a way that is clear, methodical and clean. There is no hiding the apple. He will tell you not only how to implement something but why it should be done in the way he suggests.

Informative and detailed

Justin helped me learn more than the Python code I needed to learn about: he also helped me understand why writing code in different ways impacted how it would function.

Great JQuery - JavaScript tutor

Good listener. Most patient. Quickly understood the concepts I needed help with. Excellent command of the subject matter. After the session, I was able to work on the exercises successfully on my own. Thanks.

Good tutor I enjoy working with

Justin explained lifecycle methods in react and helped to increase my knowledge base. He also helped me debug some errors in my code. He was able to show me two different ways to accomplish a particular sliding side drawer feature. One way, a bit hacky and also the proper way with lifecycle methods.

Extremely Knowledgeable Tutor

Justin's knowledge of web development goes way beyond just the JavaScript programming language. It is broad and current. I would highly recommend Justin if you want to accelerate your learning in this field.

Awesome!

Justin was great! Not only was he super knowledgeable and able to break down the concepts for me to understand, but he was very kind to accommodate my schedule! He will definitely be a go-to resource for me. 👍👍👍

Excellent Android Java Expert

Justin is very patient and does an amazing job of explaining things! In under an hour, he helped me with a nagging bug with my code. I was able to take what I learned from his lesson to successfully complete the next one on my own! I highly recommend him. :)

Justin is a super great programming tutor!

Justin was really helpful and patient with me in helping complete my Java application. I highly recommend him as a tutor. Without his help, I would have been very lost but he helped me through it in a way that I could understand. Thank you Justin!

Great React.js Ecommerce Website tutor

Justin helped me with my ecommerce website using React. He is what I needed to help me solidify concepts about React that the short-term bootcamp moved through too quickly for me to understand. I am looking forward to Justin helping me set up the rest of my MERN application. Thank you, Justin!
