I'm a middle school math teacher with my BS in mathematics. I have been tutoring for the past 5-6 years. I have mostly tutored middle school students in the past, though I have tutored from 2nd grade through undergraduate level courses in math. I've taught 6th - 8th grade math, pre-algebra, and algebra I. Seeing when students finally understand a concept they've been struggling with is very gratifying!

Having a background in tutoring and teaching, I have seen what the typical student struggles with and I have also developed the skill of identifying specific struggles for students. Math is all about problem solving, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking.

While the starting off point is to fill gaps in students' understanding and knowledge, the end goal is that students learn how to come up with a game plan to solve a problem independently, look at the answer and check to make sure it makes sense, if not, find their own mistake in the problem, and fix it. Math tutoring is as much about teaching how to problem solve and think logically as it is teaching/reteaching concepts.
