I have three years worth of tutoring experience. Two of those years have been spent in a mathematics tutoring center on college and the last one has been in a local High School as the mathematics tutor for the AVID program. As the only mathematics tutor on the campus, I tutor students from 9th grade to 12th grade in both regular and AP mathematics courses. I also tutor one-on-one with students, or in small groups, especially regarding the PAP and AP math students, and assist with not only with homework, but reteaching the subject material so they can get a better understanding of the material.

What I love about tutoring is that I get to help students understand a concept they thought was difficult and witness their confidence rise. Many students, especially in math, have low confidence in their math skills and it bothers me that many math teachers don't take the proper time to explain a concept to a student and continue moving on with the lesson.

Not only am I a math major, but I am pursuing a teaching career. I have worked with students from junior high to high school to college and have taken the same courses as have struggled with arguably the same concepts that many incoming students are finding difficult. I provide my own examples to help students understand the concepts, rather than throw them problems that they have already seen and memorized. I find ways to make the material understandable.

Calculus,

Calculus

As the only mathematics tutor at James Martin High School, I focus a major portion of tutoring for the BC Calculus students. BC Calculus includes Calculus I and Calculus II. I often meet with the students on the weekends to reestablish the learning process from their class, where I explain the concepts and offer new examples for them to utilize their knowledge. I even tutor the Calculus series at the University of Texas at Arlington, as a tutor for the Mathematics Association of America and Association of Women in Mathematics. In these tutoring session, I focus to strengthen student understanding by assisting them with a test review.

Amazing Tutor! Bryan is very knowledgable and patient.

I didn't do very well on my first calculus exam so I wanted to cover the answers I got wrong. Bryan did a great job explaining the steps and rules in a way I understood.

Very patient and thorough

I've hired Bryan 2 times so far, and have another set up for next week. I was originally against online tutoring, but he was very thorough and able to interact with my screen and patiently go over things I didn't understand. He constantly checks to make sure I've completely understood something, and asks if I need to go over it again.

The session with Bryan was excellent!

Bryan requested and worked out all the calculus problems prior to the tutoring session. He was very helpful during the session and flexible in scheduling another lesson. Great tutor!

Very Knowledgeable Tutor

Bryan helped my son complete his homework today. My son is struggling in calculus but he seems to be comfortable with the teachings of Bryan. He explained that Bryan helped him understand some things that he was struggling with. I will post more as we continue to work with Bryan but so far he is good for my son.
