Hello! I have been tutoring for over five years and have been able to help students of many ages reach their academic goals. I have worked to help students prepare for specific tests (ACT, SAT, GED, GRE), and also worked as a long term tutor for specific class subjects. I enjoy teaching math, English, writing, science, study habits, test taking skills, and just about anything else. I scored a 35 on the ACT, a 2290 on the SAT, and in the 98th percentile on the English section of the GRE, so I...

I scored a 35 on the ACT, a 2290 on the SAT, and in the 98th percentile on the English section of the GRE, so I know what it takes to prepare well for a standardized test. I work hard when I am not with you or your student to be well prepared to make the best use of our time together. I will also connect you with resources that you can access on your own to better master the subject material.

I think being a good tutor requires more than just knowing the subject material. When I was in high school I founded an organization called Athletes Helping Athletes. I ran cross country and track and field and noticed that some of my teammates and some of the other athletes in the school were struggling in their classes. Although the Honor Society offered tutoring, it always conflicted with our practice schedules and even more, my teammates often didn't relate well with the other Honor Society "nerds." So I worked with the coaches and players to pair up athletes that were struggling with their teammates who were doing well. That automatically worked out the scheduling conflict and they also already knew and trusted their tutor-teammate. The program was really successful and I'm happy to say that at least 3 athletes that might not have made it otherwise went on to play Division I football. All that to say, I have experience tutoring athletes and can relate to their goals and split commitments in the classroom and on the court.

I really believe in the motto that, "You can learn anything!". I look forward to helping you or your student reach their academic goals. I would love the chance to work with you or your student.

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Having taken college math up through multi-variable calculus, I have a deep and broad math background. But more importantly for Elementary Math tutoring I have years of experience teaching younger children the fundamentals of math to prepare them for all of the math they will learn throughout their academic careers. I strongly believe that everyone can learn math if they build each skill upon the next, taking whatever time is necessary to master each concept before moving on to the next. I will help your student to do just that by going back if necessary, finding their areas of struggle, and reinforcing them as we move forward.

Chemistry

Chemistry

I tutor in A LOT of subjects, but if there is one that I know best, it is probably chemistry. In high school I took chemistry, AP chemistry (5 on the AP test), and then made up an elective class with my teacher to take another year of it just for fun! In college I took 5 more chemistry classes on my way to a Neuroscience degree! But I think one of my real strengths is that even with that extensive background I still haven't forgotten what it is like to learn the concepts for the first time. I make a real effort to explain every concept in a way that is clear and I won't move on until the student really gets a grasp of what is going on. If you are struggling with chemistry let me help you learn and enjoy the subject!

Math

ACT Math

ACT Math

I scored a 35 on the ACT overall when I took it in high school with a 35 subscore in math. Since then I went on to take Calculus I and II, Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, Statistics and Linear Algebra in college, so my math foundation is deep and solid. But more importantly I haven't forgotten what it is like to learn each concept for the first time. I work to explain each concept in several different ways to find what makes the most sense to you or your student. I enjoy tutoring ACT Math because it is perhaps the one section of the ACT where content study and review can really make a difference. I look forward to hearing from you and finding a time to meet together!

When I took the ACT in high school I scored a 35 overall, and a 36 on the Science section. Since then I have learned even more science as I've earned a B.S. in Neuroscience. I know the challenges associated with the ACT Science section and can help you learn how best to approach the different question types.

Hands raised, an excellent Tutor

He was patient, knowledgeable, consistent, reliable and punctual. I found out this morning that his tutoring sessions with us is coming to an end. Our family is going to miss him. We wish him well for the next chapter of his life. Had it not been for him handling tutoring, I would have found it next to impossible to work full time. Some tutors come in with one story and problem after the other. I could rely on Eric showing up. He is a young man with a brilliant future ahead of him.

Thanks for helping him with English too

Eric was able to help my son with his English project. There was no Chemistry related topic or homework he needed help on. Thank you for helping him on other subjects too. He was able to complete and submit the English homework on time.

Excellent teacher!

My son felt very comfortable with his class because of the intelligence and the practical way of teaching the class. In addition Eric speaks Spanish which for the Latino community can be an excellent option.
