Bio

I graduated summa cum laude with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 2014 and 2015, and I did excellently throughout my entire schooling career (3.98 GPA in college) because I enjoy what I studied and I work hard. As an engineer, I get to use math every day to design awesome products that people will love, including an aftermarket wheelchair lift, a robotic surgery accessory, and even toys!

I have about two years of experience tutoring various math subjects...

I graduated summa cum laude with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 2014 and 2015, and I did excellently throughout my entire schooling career (3.98 GPA in college) because I enjoy what I studied and I work hard. As an engineer, I get to use math every day to design awesome products that people will love, including an aftermarket wheelchair lift, a robotic surgery accessory, and even toys!

I have about two years of experience tutoring various math subjects to about a dozen students in one-on-one settings. For example, I taught a 6th grade boy who was constantly behind in his pre-algebra/algebra class, and I helped him get caught up within only a few months! I also taught pre-calculus to a junior in college for about three months, who received an A in her class and was accepted into the Physical Therapy program for graduate school! I've kept in touch with the majority of my students and am proud to say they're performing very well in their math courses even today, months after our lessons together! I'm passionate about one-on-one tutoring and learning how YOU learn (i.e. visually, auditorily, or kinesthetically) because I can give you more individualized attention and customized lessons to fit your needs. For example, I've noticed some students learn better when they're chewing gum, because it gives them the stimulation they need to focus. I like to experiment with sitting vs. standing, loud vs. quiet environments, and writing on whiteboards vs. on paper, among others, in my lessons to find the best combination for my student to succeed. I believe that's why many students struggle with and don't enjoy math: they haven't discovered their ideal way of viewing and understanding math. Once they find that way, it's amazing how much fun learning can be! I usually start my lessons by asking my students what they've been studying, as being forced to explain what you've been learning is oftentimes a very quick way to pinpoint deficiencies. I'll then walk students through example problems,

Michael has a unique ability to understand what you are thinking and guide you to the appropriate solution using questions. His knowledge of the program and skill in mechanical engineering are also exemplary. He is one of the best teachers at any time or in any subject matter I have ever had. I would recommend him without reservation.
