In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a minor in anthropology from the University of North Texas. I continue to read and study ethnographic literature as well as other materials that relate to the study of humans. I graduated with a GPA of 3.89 - Magna Cum Laude
During the completion of my graduate degree I spearheaded a GED / ESL program for the University of North Texas. I have tutored and successfully had students study and obtain their GED as well as improve their language skills. I believe that all people are life long learners and anyone can obtain their dreams through persistence.
One, being a product of Texas educational system myself I grew up taking TAAS exams every year in order to graduate. Two, I have STAAR prep along side my English co-teacher for the Carrollton-Farmer's Branch school district and continue to do so beginning every March. Also, I have taught GED prep for the University of North Texas which I still remain contains a lot of the same forms of questions (such as, choose the BEST answer for the question - study skills).
