I decided to become a certified teacher because of my ability to explain and guide others in an academic setting. I began my teaching journey in the Air Force as a training instructor for flight officers and after my enlistment I found a passion for teaching students with special needs in all subject areas. Two years into my teaching career, I starting teaching math and writing skills to adults seeking their GED. Tutoring comes as a nature gift due to the one on one needs of most of my students in the past.

My strongest capability is to search and determine my students strengths and weaknesses before planning specialized lessons.

Patients is keys and knowing how to recognize key abilities.

I am organized, determined, and a standard setter. Contact me for motivation and academic achievement.

Career Development

As a GED and Academic Advisor for adults, I implemented various tools to seek careers of choice as well as find appropriate educational career paths. Working with students with disabilities, hands-on experience was necessary for student to be able to apply for jobs once they reach a certain age. I established community based instruction locations where students were able to work hands-on in places such as Chili's, Longhorn, Walmart, Publix, Kmart, Salvation Army, and Clay County Women's Shelter. I developed checklist in which student were able to produce resumes to apply for entry level positions.

Special Needs

I have been a special education teacher for 12 years for students with various learning disabilities. Within these years have had extensive experience working with student who have diagnosed with physical and mental needs. I have implemented strategies such as differentiated instruction that met those student needs (i.e. one on one), extended time (to include multiple breaks), repetition in all lesson plans, and creative methods to retain material. In my self-contained class, I motivated my students to process information and apply in various ways.
