Teaching Philosophy: I love teaching and interacting with students. I have a penchant to absorb new knowledge and pass it on. I am of the opinion that students should be motivated to learn and it is my responsibility as a mentor to create an inquisitive and prepared mind.
Background and Experience: As a student I was fascinated with English literature. Shakespeare, Whitman,Hemingway, Wordsworth, Thoreau, O Henry and Robert Frost caught my imagination. Their works left an indelible impression on my mind. This spurred me to pursue an undergraduate degree in English major. To further delve into this rich language I obtained a Master's degree in English Language and Literature from the best ranking University.
My passion for teaching drove me to complete a degree in Education. I have more than two years of teaching experience during which I have taught from grades 1 through 8.
Teaching Technique: My teaching technique stems from my philosophy which is to create interest in the student's mind for the subject. While explaining a poem or a prose, I prefer to give the historical context in which it was written to generate curiosity. Some of us are visual learners. Sometimes I use visual cues to elucidate the subject matter. I endeavor to provide a thorough learning experience by assigning homework and conducting quiz after each lesson. I evaluate a student's progress through periodic assessment and identify areas of improvement.
Other Details: I am available for tutoring everyday from Mon- Fri 7 pm- 9 pm and on weekends from 9 am- 9 pm. I can travel to students' place, meet them online or at my home. My base rate is $40/ hour for in person lessons and $35/ hour for online lessons.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an undergraduate degree (B.A.) with major in English and minor in Political Science and Economics. I also have a Master's degree (M.A.) in English and bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed.). I have two years of experience in teaching English.
