About Sarah

I hold dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology (graduating summa cum laude) and I am about to start law school. While I was in college, I balanced honors classes and student leadership positions. One of my favorite parts of mentoring younger students was seeing them be successful and the confidence that resulted from that success. I found that I had particular knacks for helping students adjust to college life and proofreading essays. I am a tough proofreader, but I always make sure that I deliver my suggestions in a positive manner and remind my students that I believe in their abilities to be amazing writers.

Mentoring students has always brought me joy. Sometimes those mentorships just involved building their confidence that they can do well academically, but a lot of the time it involved some level of tutoring. Assistance with understanding confusing concepts can really enable a student to confidently approach future problems. I love being able to help students do that.

I am a strong writer and I frequently proofread all of my friends and coworkers' essays for classes. I have received multiple scholarship offers for both undergraduate and law school, so I have experience with writing admissions and scholarship essays.

Not only do I have a degree in Criminal Justice, I was an officer in my university's chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma. Alpha Phi Sigma is a national Criminal Justice honor society.

I love helping students succeed. While my degrees are in Criminal Justice and Sociology, I do have a background in helping struggling students do well in a university setting. If you would like to learn more about lessons, please do not hesitate to contact me. I prefer to meet at libraries or tutor online.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I attended college two years early, received multiple scholarship offers including a full ride, and I was a student leader on campus. One of my leadership positions included being a Community Leader (resident assistant) in the freshmen dormitory. I mentored 72 of my own residents in my section of the dorm as well as helping the 400 other residents of the entire hall.

Awesome!

Sarah recently reviewed one of my assignments for a college course. The assignment was to be in MLA format. Sarah helped me format the paper correctly and proofread my paper. She gave some suggestions to make it read easier and I am happy to say with her help, I scored a 100 on the assignment.
