Cornell College (Psychology History)
Loyola University Chicago (Master's)
Hi all, I'm a psychology student preparing to enter my PhD program in the local area and looking to do something meaningful in the meantime. I recently graduated with my Master's degree in counseling from Loyola University Chicago, and am glad to be back near my home town and family. In addition to tutoring I am also spending time helping around my home with a family business.
Much of my tutoring experience has been informal, but I've spent lots of time learning in various disciplines and lots of time teaching other students and helping them learn. In the course of my education I've been around the country and worn many hats, but teaching is always something unique and powerful.
I double majored in history during my undergraduate career, focusing in pre-1700 European History. My special focuses were on the crusades, religious history, and Russian history. I was awarded a departmental distinction in history and produced original history research. I graduated with honors in the subject and it has always been a passion of mine.
I've also played soccer for 15 or so years at various levels, including youth select and pub leagues. I've trained with pro players from MLS and taught youth clinics. While I am not personally excellent at it, I've been a student of the game a long time and been coached by some excellent persons and been able to learn a lot.
Thanks for taking the time to consider me as your tutor, and please let me know if you have any questions. I'd love to hear from you and possibly get down to the fun part, the actual learning of things! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Spent 15 years playing the sport at various levels, including youth select and pub leagues. I've trained with and been trained by MLS pros and coached you clinics. I also hold you entry level coaching licence and am trying for my second.
