Hunter College; City University of New York (Honors, Engl, Pysch)
University of Texas at Dallas (Master's)
I graduated from Hunter College in New York City with a double major in an interdisciplinary honors curriculum (concentration in creative writing) and Psychology. Currently, I am doing my Master's in interdisciplinary studies in Biology and Health Policy.
At Hunter College, I volunteered at the Arabic department as a tutor.
My knowledge of Arabic comes from being a native-born speaker as well as attending elementary and some high school in Yemen. I learned Modern Arabic with grammar as well as Classical. I can teach from beginner to advanced level. Whether you are starting to learn how to write or you are trying to perfect your language skills, I can help you. I'm familiar with all the dialects with the exception of Moroccan/Algerian/Tunisian dialects. Si hablas español, no hay problema. Puedo hablar en español pero no es perfecto. Yo fui a Argentina y Mexico por un mes para aprender el español y quiero aprender más!
If you're trying to learn English, I will be more than happy to help you. I tutored ESL to adults for two years. If you are a native English speaker but would like help with an English course or with writing and proofreading, I can certainly help you!
Teaching or tutoring these two languages is my passion! I love to see my students improve their language skills and confidence. I'm also very patient and like to use a lot of different resources to teach you. I don't believe in teaching a language with just a pencil and a paper. I like to incorporate things like videos, songs, useful worksheet, and anything that will get you to understand any retain information. I spend a considerable amount of time preparing each lesson. Memorization is never the answer and I will rarely ask you to memorize anything. Instead, you will remember through learning about something more than once in different occasions and different contexts. I also customize my tutoring to your own needs and goals. Every lesson I deliver is especially made for you or fits with your goals.
As a pre-med student, I took courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math (excluding Calculus). I can teach any of these subjects.
I'm very excited to get to know you and to help you with your goals! I graduated from Hunter College in New York City with a double major in an interdisciplinary honors curriculum (concentration in creative writing) and Psychology. Currently, I am doing my Master's in interdisciplinary studies

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm a native Arabic speaker with professional tutoring experience. I also speak Spanish and can help you see similarities between Arabic and Spanish. In addition to completing middle school and some high school in the Middle East in Arabic language, I have substituted for an Arabic teacher and taught his class in his absence. I also volunteered to tutor at the Arabic language department at Hunter College in NYC.
