I find few things more satisfying than when I can help others become more comfortable working in the field that I love. In the past five years of tutoring mathematics, I have found repeatedly that much of the difficulty people have with Mathematics is in the presentation. I am constantly looking for new presentations of the same concept in order to offer the intuition and beauty I find in math to those of all learning styles.
My goal is to personalize the way I work with you to your particular needs. Accordingly, the amount, difficulty, and content of what I assign for homework and length of the sessions will vary by your goals and problems. If I don't think I can help you or feel that I haven't by the end of a session, I will tell you as much and not charge you.
I specialize in all levels of mathematics through the end of an undergraduate education, particularly Calculus and Linear Algebra. I have worked in the UT Dallas Math Lab for two years in this capacity In addition, I have three years experience teaching all parts of the SAT and ACT with a local test prep company.

He helped my daughter who is a senior in Pre Cal review for upcoming test. She aced it with his help. Thanks Ian! Would recommend to everyone-great tutor!!
So far...GREAT reviews from our son. We will come back and add more comprehensive review when more lessons have been completed.
We started a review of sequences and series. Getting from the core concept to about half of the series tests. Very helpful.
Teaches not just the material but the tricks on how to ace the actual AP Calc Exam. Excellent teacher and very patient.
Ian has been helping my daughter once a week with her Algebra II. She is getting a very firm foundation in algebra, which is so important to her education. Her grades have gotten even better and she really enjoys working with Ian.
My son's time with Ian was very valuable. After the first lesson, he felt more confident about his understanding of the lessons reviewed. We will definitely call again when the need arises.
Ian is an awesome tutor. He is punctual, thorough, knowledgeable and detail oriented reviewing concepts that my daughter has not seen in a year and making it understandable. My daughter actually enjoyed her last session and she hates math. I attribute that to Ian.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Bachelor's in Mathematics.
