About Lauren

I developed my passion for tutoring when I was just in 5th grade. I tutored 2nd and 3rd graders in reading and social studies. Over the years, that passion has grown into a fulfilling career. Right out of college, I landed a position teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts at one of the most competitive private schools in the country. However, I recently decided to pursue a career in law. Fortunately, my new schedule allows ample time for private tutoring. I love helping students master verbal and written language skills, which in turn, leads to better grades and higher test scores. I do this through providing positive feedback in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment.

I specialize in tutoring English for success both in school and on the AP Language and Composition, AP Literature, SAT, and ACT exams. I also excel at helping students improve their understanding and usage of grammar, reading strategies, and writing. Whether we are studying Shakespeare's tragedies or crafting thesis statements for college admissions essays, I will do my best to challenge and support students. I provide regular assessments and progress reports on all students. I hold myself to a high standard. Thus, I will often solicit feedback and I will not bill for a lesson in which the student or parent is not totally satisfied with my tutoring. I try to be flexible with my time. However, I do ask that my 2-hour cancellation policy be respected. I am happy to tutor students in the comfort of their own home or meet them at a nearby public location.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please let me know how I can help you or your child achieve success in school!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
