Hello! My name is Rebecca and I am a full-time chamber singer and soloist based in University Park, TX. I sing with a variety of elite professional ensembles which are both Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated. I offer voice lessons for all ages and experience levels. In my lessons, I emphasize tone production, intonation, purposeful use (and restraint) of vibrato, vocal timbre, informed approaches to various musical styles, solo versus ensemble singing and active listening. My singing and tutoring techniques are supported by extensive college-level vocal pedagogy training and 15+ years of professional singing experience. I have a degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, where I received the Verna K. Townsend Award for Undergraduate Performance in Music.
I have been teaching private voice lessons for roughly 8 years and currently serve 8 students from age 6 to 60+. I recently assisted a student with rehabilitative voice therapy post surgery and am also preparing an emerging professional for upcoming international auditions. I very much enjoy my students and their variety of needs and levels of practice.
In addition to singing, I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects, being diversely qualified due to my experience as a business administrator and manager. I take pride in being proficient on a variety of subjects from Public Speaking to the Microsoft Office Suite, English, Reading, Writing and more. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have an excellent handle of the English language and took college-level advanced composition. I am very patient with children, am very friendly and enjoy teaching.
As a full-time professional singer, I am frequently expected to sight read advanced music at a high level "on the fly". Also as a section leader for Conspirare and the St Louis Church choirs, it is my job to serve as an accurate vocal model for the other singers.
