Hi there! I really love math and love making it logical and approachable for students! It's a subject I know a lot of students and parents struggle with, but with a straightforward approach, clear examples, and a little practice, it will become enjoyable and fun!
Outside of math, I also have strong analytic essay writing skills and can help with grammar, thesis statements, and organization of ideas in essays. These same analytical skills also translate to excellent standardized test prep - the summer is a great time to work on skills for the ACT and SAT while students aren't overwhelmed with usual schoolwork.
I'm a graduate of Southern Methodist University where I majored in Mechanical Engineering and Math. I have a strong background in many different math subjects and have over 100 hours of previous tutoring experience in the Park Cities and Dallas areas.
I also scored very well on both the SAT (2280 composite, 780 on math) and ACT (32 composite, 33 on math. 35 on science), and frequently serve as a proctor for the ACT, so I'm able to prep your student for both the content and the environment of standardized test taking. I pride myself on being able to help students gain the skills and understanding to be successful in middle school, high school, college, and beyond. I look forward to working with you soon! Hi there! Thank you for helping my daughter understand the skills she needs to do well on her SAT test. My daughter feels as if she will do well because of your help. I would recommend Emily because she takes her time explaining the concepts that students need to learn.
Thank you so much Angela! I really appreciate the kind words and I'm glad your daughter feels more confident and prepared in SAT math. Please tell her good luck on the test this Saturday!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
