About Sherry

Want to see your name on the Texas Bar Exam pass list? I can help you make sure you do! I've been tutoring the Texas Bar Exam since 2012 and absolutely love it. I take a very holistic approach to teaching - incorporating life coaching, substantive teaching, and study skill strategies as appropriate for each individual student. We can meet as little or as often as you need given your particular situation including your strengths, weaknesses, work and family obligations, and legal aptitude. Whether MBE questions make you plot bar examiner assassinations or IRAC is just a foreign country to you, I can help you develop the necessary skills for a successful bar exam experience. Reach out and we will discuss where you are and what your needs are before ever scheduling a session. I do not teach the bar exam "on occasion" - this is my passion and my profession. I have helped dozens of students see their name on the pass list. Let me help you ensure that your name is there too!

A bit about me - I am an intelligent, fun, down-to-earth, mother of three (birth and step) who has a knack for making learning fun and getting people not only to think, but to grow and reflect while learning. I've run a child care business, raised my own children, and taught in foreign countries. I've bartended, lived on the road, and managed a rock band. I've also practiced law, run businesses, and studied psychology and philosophy. Having a multi-dimensional personality and life gives me the unique ability to tap into what people need to learn and what is holding them back from learning. It makes for entertaining teaching analogies too! Whatever you are struggling to learn, whatever your age, I can help you set and meet your learning goal.

Please note, my advertised rate is for individual, as-needed bar exam tutoring sessions. If you are interested in regular bar exam tutoring or tutoring in other subjects, the rate is negotiable. I do my best to work with my students according to their needs and abilities.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bar Exam

I have taken and passed, on the first attempt, bar exams in Texas, Florida, and North Carolina and have been helping others to pass the bar exam since 2012. I will create a custom tailored tutoring experience with you. Every student is different. Some just need a schedule and someone to be accountable to. Others need substantive teaching on a regular basis. Still others are struggling with additional challenges such as unsuccessful prior attempts or recently relocating to this country. Whatever your situation, I can help you develop and implement a strategy that will get you successfully through the Texas Bar Exam.

ESL/ESOL

I taught ESL while living in Italy and have, myself, learned foreign languages while living abroad. It is a tremendous challenge for foreign attorneys to take the bar exam when English is not their mother tongue. I've worked with several people to build not only their understanding and application of English but, perhaps more importantly, to recognize the gaps between what they think they understand and what they actually understand.

Law

I have been a tutor for the Texas Bar Exam since 2012. I scored in the 95th percentile on the LSAT, graduated from University of Miami School of Law, and was a member of the law review. I have been licensed to practice for over 20 years during which time I have run my own practice as well as working for both large and medium-sized law firms. Whether you are struggling with legal writing or specific legal subjects, I can tailor my tutoring to your course materials and teach you whatever you need to know to be successful in your law school courses.

Proofreading

I have run a writing and editing business since 2005 and have provided proofreading services to several clients, mostly attorneys. Whether you are looking for proofreading, cite-checking, or a better understanding of the editing process, I can help!

Writing

I have run a writing and editing business since 2005. I have provided writing and editing services to law firms, yoga studios, and technology companies, just to name a few. Whether you need website proofreading, bluebook cite-checking, or ghost writing, I can get you from a concept to the correctly written product, or assist at any juncture along the way.
